Best known for its beautiful falls and excellent nature viewing opportunities, the Burgess Falls State Natural Area is a day-use park centered around the Falling Water River. The river itself affords fishers the opportunity to catch bass, brim and carp and a scenic 1.5-mile hike journeys along the riverside while another mile-long hike heads upwards, affording views of the river as it rushes through the canyon. The area is located nine miles northwest of Sparta.
Open daily 8:00 a.m. - sundown; Closed when there are high river conditions or snow on trails.
